why is the token price different from the share price?

one token can be worth more than one share. dividends and splits raise the token’s multiplier instead of changing balances, so token price = share price × multiplier.

how do i read a balance in shares?

call balanceOfUI(address) on the token for shares, or balanceOf × uiMultiplier() / 1e18 yourself. balanceOf alone is the raw token amount, 18 decimals.

can anyone buy them?

robinhood offers stock tokens outside the us (not to us persons). only authorized participants mint and redeem; everyone else trades existing tokens. hxxe only shows public data.
